]]>NSC Partners with ACHIEVE PROGRAM!http://www.natickservicecouncil.org/home/2012/2/3/nsc-partners-with-achieve-program.htmlNatick Service Council2012-02-03T20:54:51ZThe Natick Service Council is proud to partner with the Natick Public School's highly acclaimed Achieve Program.  The Achieve program, led by Judy D'Antonio, is designed to address the needs of Natick High School students, who, after successfully completing the Life Skills Program, need additional training and guidance to attain the greatest possible levels of independence with their personal, social, and vocational choices.

The program, designed for young adults (18-22) with significant physical and cognitive challenges, is designed to motivate and challenge young adults, while developing lifelong skills and strategies.  The primary areas of focus include: independent living skills, vocational education, training and placement, and community awareness & access.

The Natick Service Council is proud to partner with Judy D’Antonio and the Natick Public Schools on this terrific program!

Natick, Mass:  January 24, 2012 – The Natick Service Council (NSC), a Natick non-profit organization dedicated to providing basic needs for food, housing, and access to health care, is pleased to announce The Living Well Project, a behavioral health & substance abuse program funded by The MetroWest Health Foundation. 

The Living Well Project is designed for adult Natick residents who experience behavioral health and/or substance abuse challenges.  NSC Case Managers provide behavioral health & substance abuse screening services to clients referred through collaboration with Natick’s public, private and civic organizations.  For direct behavioral health and substance abuse counseling, programming, and services, NSC Case Manages refers clients to our Living Well Project partner, the South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC).

NSC is honored to be part of this community wide effort to address a gap in behavioral health programming in Natick and we’re grateful to MetroWest Health Foundation for their continued support of this and many other NSC health & wellness programs offered to Natick residents.

Customers (donors) purchased a charity box for $10.00 and proceeds of the sale will be divided amongst local Food Banks.  NSC clients continue to receive boxes that include Stop & Shop Squeeze Grape Jelly, Instant Oatmeal, Sliced Peaches, Pasta Sauce, Pasta, Shop Mac and Cheese, Diced Tomatoes, and Black Beans.

Stop & Shop is a huge supporter of NSC and we thank them for their continued generosity in support of our clients!

Leonard Morse Grants Panel of the MetroWest Health Foundation:  awarded NSC a $25,000 grant for NSC’s proposed “Living Well Project”.  The Living Well Project builds upon NSC’s existing Behavioral Health Screening & Intervention program and focuses on behavioral health concerns of older adults in Natick. 

Boston Scientific Foundation:  a $20,000 grant was awarded to support NSC’s Case Management Program.  NSC’s case management program provides direct (and advocates) human & social services programs 600+ Natick families.

Trustees of Foundation for MetroWest: a $5,000 grant was awarded to NSC in support of our Case Management Program.  The award further supports NSC’s Case Management program and direct Human Services Programs offered to our clients.

Brack Family Fund of the Foundation for MetroWest:  a $5,000 grant was awarded to NSC in support of our 50 year mission of serving less fortunate citizens of Natick.  The award helps support NSC programs, specifically our housing, utilities, and home heating programs.

Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation:  The Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation awarded NSC a $10,000 grant to support NSC's Food Pantry operations.  We're grateful to be the recipient of such a generous donation from an organization that generously supports NSC in many ways.  The grant award supports hundreds of Natick Families in need of supplemental fruits, vegetables, dairy and lean meats.  Thank you Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation!

Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation, Middlesex Savings Bank, & Mass Bankers Association:  The Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation nominated NSC to the Mass Bankers Association (MBA) and was awarded a $1,500 grant to support our Food Pantry programs.  Both Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation and Middlesex Bank matched MBA’s gift ($1,500), resulting in a total award of $4,500.  A special thanks goes out to Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation’s Dana Neshe, Paul Totino, and Arnold Zaltas for nominating NSC for these awards!

NSC thanks all of these great Foundations and Local businesses for their ongoing support of our 50 year mission of serving under-privileged citizens of Natick!

]]>Natick Service Council Holiday Program - A Smashing Success!http://www.natickservicecouncil.org/home/2011/12/21/natick-service-council-holiday-program-a-smashing-success.htmlNatick Service Council2011-12-21T19:47:24ZWIth thanks to many generous donors and sponsors, NSC provided over 400 Natick residents, including 220 children, 110+ teens, and 80+ elders received holiday boxes filled with toys, bikes, sleds, clothes, books, personal care packages, and gift cards.

It was a tremendously festive and caring event and NSC, along with all of our clients, are extremely grateful for the genoristy of our great Home of Champions! It was simply another fabulous community event!

Special thanks to NSC Case Managers Amy Van Ermen and Kathie Fair Chandley for their exhaustive work putting all the gift boxes together and coordinating the pickups and deliveries. 

NSC is also very grateful to St. Linus Church and Donna MacIntosh for hosting the Holiday drive once again this year.  They are the best!

The 2nd Annual Jingle Bell Run was a HUGE SUCCESS!  Well over 500 runners took part in the 2 mile Jingle Bell Run, which raised over $5,600 dollars to support Natick Service Council programs and services.

A special thanks goes out to all Natick residents who participated, especially Colleen Phelps and Kathy Landry (and their army of volnteers!) for their tireless efforts in organizating the event.

A special thanks also to the Natick Police Chase Team as well as Joe Gagliardi at Coach & Carriage Auto Body for inviting Santa Claus and his (rolling) sleigh! 

The NSC is grateful and proud to be part of a fantastic community and wonderful event!

This is a national program that matches gently used outerwear with individuals in need. We politely ask you not to bring the coats directly to the Service Council office, but instead, work through our local liason, June Welch.

Once again this year, the Rotary Club supported our annual Thanksgiving Food Basket program.  They also recently held their Annual Holiday gathering and collected several large boxes full of children's toys for NSC's Annual Holiday program.

With the Rotary Club's generous financial and hands-on support, NSC expects to deliver over 400 holiday gifts to Natick children, teens, and elders.  The Natick Rotary also helps deliver these gifts!

Our hats are off to the Rotary Club of Natick for their "service before self" mission and for all they do for Natick citizens, schools, and our great Home of Champions!
